Mission Statement
The mission statement for the Leoma Church of Christ can be found in Matthew
28:18-20 and was instituted by Jesus when He commanded His disciples to "go and
make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."
As modern-day disciples of Jesus, our mission continues to be that of "making
disciples." To fulfill that mission, the church at Leoma uses whatever scripturally
authorized means available to spread the good news about Jesus.
What is the Church of Christ?
The church of Christ was established by Jesus. "And I tell you that you are Peter, and
on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
Matthew 16:18. The rock that Jesus was speaking of was the belief that He was the
Son of God as confessed by Peter in verse 17 of the same chapter. The church
strives to practice the Christianity found in the New Testament. By necessity, this
excludes any doctrines and practices not found in the New Testament. Jesus warned
against following the doctrines of men in Matthew 15:8-9. "These people honor me
with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their
teachings are but rules taught by men."
